A picture of my brother from an article about his unit (Kentucky National Guard unit, the 149th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade) in the NY Times. They were some of the last to leave Iraq, staying behind to help clean up all the bases and stuff like that. This was on their 26 hour convoy to Kuwait from Iraq. He’s one of my favorite people, and one of the biggest heroes I have and it’s such a massive relief to know that he never has to go back to Iraq again.
Everyone should take just five minutes today to internally celebrate the fact that this war is over.
